Some things to watch for to identify a wolf

 Leader: Pastor Bill

Watch for an inability to submit to authority.  Usually a person's sins will follow them into every aspect of their life.  If a person has a problems submitting to authority at work, he probably will also at church.  Never place anyone in authority who has not proven they can be faithful to follow leadership.  If you do you are asking for trouble. Humility is a sign that God is wanting to promote a man and that he is ready for such promotion.  A man who exhibits humility can be entrusted with responsibility.

Watch for a lack of desire to serve the body of Christ.  Many people want to be in a prominent position.  But for what reason?  To serve or be served?  Never put a person in a position too soon. Test their maturity level.  See if they can be faithful with small things before you give them greater responsibilities. They may start out with good intentions but soon become prideful.  Allow them to minister in an area of service before you place them in a position.  Observe them in difficult situations, that's when charater shows.

Listen to how they speak about the authorities in their life.  How do they speak of their boss? What do they say about the church leadership?  What you hear them say is only half of what they say to other people.  Never put a man with an unbriddled mouth in authority.  He will speak evil about you and other leadership in the church at the first moment that it doesn't go his way.
